The treatments for breast cancer are local that is treatment through surgery or radiation or Systematic treatments where the purpose is to destroy, eliminate or remove to control the cancer cells in a specific area to prevent to the extension of those cells outside the breast.

The surgery is done for removal of breast. Here the Chemotherapy or hormone therapy is systematic treatments. Patients are treated with both or a single treatment is done depending on the seriousness of a disease.

Women who are diagnosed with the early stage tumor may have lumpectomy or partial mastectomy where only the cancerous portion or about to be cancerous portion of the breast will be removed and some lymph nodes under the arms are also being removed.

Later on the radiation therapy is conducted for six weeks to treat the remaining portion of breast tissues. Here the shape of the breast remains normal after treatment.

When you are done with the treatment then the treatment team measures the possibility of reoccurrence of cancer beyond or outside the breast. This team consists of an oncologist who works with the doctor and suggests drugs or sometimes chemotherapy for the prevention of the disease.
